In 2020, the 56th Congress of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) will take place in Vienna, Austria from 21-25 September 2020.
The European Association for the Study of Diabetes e.V. (EASD) was founded in 1965 and its headquarters is based in Duesseldorf, Germany.
The congress is held every year in a different European city and more than 15,000 delegates from over 130 countries attend the annual meeting. The scientific programme includes more than 1,200 talks and presentations on the latest results in diabetes research by leading experts in that field.
In 2020, the EASD will take place in Vienna, certainly one of the most charming cities in central Europe with an old town certificated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
Nearly one third of the Austrian population lives in the commuter belt of the capital, which makes it the cultural, economic and political centre of the country. In 2001, the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vienna is famous for being a decisive factor in the development of the European music and the country of birth of the legandary classical musician Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
When in Vienna, do not miss tasting its delicious cuisine, including Wiener Schnitzel (a cutlet of veal), Sachertorte ( a moist chocolate cake with apricot jam) or hot apple strudel.
The venue for the congress is the Reed Messe Wien, the most important trade fair location of Austria with over 70,000 square meters of exhibition space.
