ERA-EDTA‘s 57th congress venue will be Milan, the second-most important and second-largest city in Italy after Rome. It is a trendsetter in fashion, an important center of the financial world and a metropolis offering numerous famous sights.
The European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) is a British organization of physicians which operates mainly in the Mediterranean area.
It counts a total of over 11.000 members, united by a common goal: the advancement of medical science and clinical work in nephrology, dialysis, renal transplantation, hypertension and related subjects, independent from governments’ policies and industrial influences.
Trends and traditions are close together in Milan, for example, one of the most exclusive shopping street in Europe, the Via Montenapoleone, where all of the fancy and expensive labels are represented, starts next to the almost 200 years old Basilica of San Carlo al Corso.
Concept stores are also very popular in Milan. In the mix of department store and luxury boutique you can find everything close together: books, clothes, furniture.
Even though Milan is clearly a delight to the eye, the kitchen offers plenty of specialties too, from pizza to pasta, from risotto to minestrone and from tiramisu to an excellent chocolate ice cream. After a delicious “comensale”, as the Italians say, the city offers a wide selection of bars, night clubs and discos. The Top quarters are Brera, Corso Garibaldi and Corso Como.
