Overview of the event
The 28th EFORT Annual Congress is the largest platform for European orthopaedics to exchange knowledge and experience within Europe, but also with colleagues from other parts of the world. From 19 – 21 May 2027 the meeting of EFORT is celebrating its 27th birthday in Malaga, Spain, with the main theme: “EFORT is IMPACT — Innovating Musculoskeletal Practice — Advancing Clinical ouTcomes”.
The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) is the platform organisation linking Europe‘s national orthopaedic associations. Its aims reflect the will of all the participating associations to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and experience in the field of prevention and both the conservative and surgical treatment of diseases and injuries concerning the musculo-skeletal system. EFORT was established by the national associations for orthopaedics and traumatology from twenty European countries. The Federation was founded in Marentino, Italy, in 1991, and today has 41 national member societies from 39 member countries, as well as 13 associate scientific members.
Information about the city of Athens
In 2027, the EFORT Congress will take place in Athens, the capital city of Greece. Ancient and modern – with equal measures of grunge and grace – the energetic Athens is an exciting mix of history and edginess. Iconic monuments mingle with first-rate museums, bustling cafes and al fresco dining – all is a lot of fun. The historic center is an open-air museum, yet the city’s cultural and social life takes place amid all those ancient landmarks, merging past and present.
The magnificent Acropolis rises above the sprawling metropolis. Post-Olympics Athens is conspicuously more sophisticated and cosmopolitan than ever before. Stylish restaurants, shops, hip hotels, and artsy-industrial neighborhoods as well as entertainment quarters such as Gazi, show Athens’ modern face. The surrounding region of Attiki holds some spectacular antiquities – for instance the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion – and wonderful beaches, like those near historic Marathon.
