  1. Information about the city of Rotterdam

The 53rd annual EBMT meeting will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands: a modern and lively port city in the western Netherlands. It is one of the most dynamic cities in Europe. The city is known for its huge port. This port is one of the largest in the world. It made Rotterdam an important hub for international trade. The city changed a lot after the Second World War. Heavy bombing destroyed much of it. Rotterdam rebuilt itself with a focus on modern design. Today, it is famous for bold architecture and innovative urban planning. One of the best-known landmarks is the Erasmus Bridge. It connects both sides of the Maas River and is a symbol of the city. The Cube Houses are also very famous. Their unusual shape attracts many visitors. The Markthal is another highlight. It combines striking architecture with a popular food market.

Rotterdam also has a strong cultural scene where visitors can explore museums and modern art centres. The Old Harbour shows historic ships and a maritime atmosphere. These places reflect the city’s mix of old and new. The city’s location on the water shapes its identity. The sea and port keep it closely connected to global trade. People from many cultures live in Rotterdam. This makes the city diverse and open-minded.
