  1. Information about the city of Stockholm

The ESCMID 2027 congress venue will be Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Stockholm has served as the royal residence since 1643 and is also home to Sweden’s parliament and government. The city reflects the history of the entire nation, with a rich and distinctive history. Many museums offer visitors the chance to explore Sweden’s past and gain a deeper understanding of its culture.
One standout attraction is the Vasa Museum. Located on the island of Djurgården in the city center, it houses the only preserved 17th-century ship in the world. Another key architectural landmark is the Stockholm Public Library, designed by the renowned architect Gunnar Asplund and opened in 1928. The building is notable for its circular design, with curved walls and bookshelves that extend all the way up to the ceiling.
Although Stockholm lies on the mainland, it is spread across several islands, making views from above especially impressive. From the Ericsson Globe, visitors can enjoy not only a spectacular panorama but also one of the most unique structures in the world. With a diameter of 110 meters and a height of 85 meters, it stands as the largest spherical building globally and a symbol of the Swedish capital. Overall, Stockholm offers a remarkable mix of famous landmarks and unique experiences.
