“Summer in Berlin”

Wolfgang smiling into the camera.

Did you know? Berliners love it green. Rose gardens, hilly landscapes, urban gardening and smart urban farming, sustainable fashion and vegan gastronomy are turning Berlin more and more into a green trend metropolis! In every district one can feel the desire to maintain and expand green oases, as well as the willingness to go sustainable and alternative ways. Over one third of Berlin’s almost 900 km² urban area is green space, half of it is forest. Public parks serve as an extended living room for the locals.

It is green and blooming all over town!

In many districts of Berlin, urban gardening is already extremely popular, including projects like Himmelbeet (sky bed) in the district of Wedding or Prinzessinengärten (princess gardens) in the district of Neukölln. The Himmelbeet, for example, is a 1,700 m² community garden and helps to bring people together. There are jointly managed areas, lease beds for individuals and organizations, as well as event programs and workshops about gardening and the environment provided.

Anyone who takes part in urban gardening not only supports the environment but also stimulates social connections, because gardening together enables one to view fellow gardeners from a completely new angle.

A picnic in a meadow with a flock of sheep and delicacies that were produced in urban areas? Europe’s largest glass AquaTerraPonik city farm? African catfish, Ceylon spinach, edible flowers & passion fruit all made in the middle of Berlin? You are amazed – right? All this you can find in the Herzberge landscape park.

And here you also find the smart urban farming Stadtfarm (city farm) right in the heart of the metropolis. Production with AquaTerraPonik is local and sustainable, has mother nature as its role model! Visionary & culinary! The city farm is a meeting point for everyone who wants to experience pure nature and indulgence. In addition to regular markets, there are of course professional tours through the facility!
