“Best is the water when it comes to life (Pindar)“
Did you know that Berlin, with 59 km² of water (around 6.6% of the total area), the rivers Spree, Havel, Dahme and all its canals, streams and lakes is called a water city? In fact, with around 960 bridges, the capital is one of the cities in Europe with the most bridges – number four actually, ahead of Venice! My path today leads me along the banks of the Spree river.
Because Marlene Dietrich already sang about it… “The Spree still flows through Berlin”
In the heart of Berlin, in the Moabit district, the Patio restaurant ship is located on the Helgoland Ufer (a Spree riverbank), not far from the former Bolle Meierei (a former dairy farm), which is now an attractive event location. In addition to fine dining – in summer on the terrace on the upper deck, in winter below deck with a fireplace – the restaurant ship Patio also offers all conceivable possibilities, whether as an event and conference location or as a luxurious version for a water tour.
Meetings and events can also be held on the particularly environmentally friendly seminar ship Orca ten Broke, a solar hybrid passenger ship that you can use to ride all over Germany. This climate-neutral location for up to 250 people lies on the banks of the Spree as well, at the former loading tower called Schüttsische Dampfmühle in Berlin-Moabit. There is even underfloor heating on board … so absolutely winter-friendly, this barge!
In the Berlin district of Lichtenberg – Rummelsburg you will find an entire paradise for event organizers right on the Spree. Not only is the large bus company BerlinMobil based here, there is also the wonderful Hafenküche restaurant with its beer garden and view of the river. In the CITYMARINA there are license-free Spree boats for up to 12 people, the Spree-apartment Mara, the floating suite Grace and there is a small secret barbecue area – a real insider tip for cool events and incentives near the water!
Finally, in the harbor on the Stralau peninsula, you will find the “Berliner Schiffskontor”. Their specialty are charter trips with historic ships. Some of these lovingly restored gems are already known from movie and television shows. In fact the actress Sophia Loren has perpetuated herself with a signature on the ship Aphrodite, the Rivabus with Italian elegance in the style of the 50s. Whether film production, charter tour, dinner on the water or classic event, you are always in the best hands here!
