… and which part we play in it

Lately a lot has become unpredictable – not just the next visit to a restaurant or the persistent changing regulations for events. For example, our agency ended up in a women’s magazine.

Our sustainability officer Mareike Lindner commented on sustainability concepts in an article about environmentally conscious concerts in the magazine Grazia (issue no. 46 | 11.11.21 | pages 34-35). The band Coldplay for instance – amongst other things – makes the audience jump up and down to generate electricity and this way wants to play greener concerts.

In the interview, Mareike also evaluates several different sustainability concepts of other artists and recognizes positive trends in the event industry. She gives clues to locations and organizers as well, who can make huge improvements through minor changes. Be it green electricity, vegan and/or vegetarian catering, electronic ticketing or the avoidance of plastic. In this article in the Garzia, Mareike pleads for mandatory rules, minimum requirements for the event industry and more responsibility on the part of the organizers.

It is no coincidence that our colleague is called in as a sustainability expert. Over the past year, Mareike – in cooperation with the Berlin Convention Office – has lead MR Congress through the Sustainable Meetings Berlin – Audit to become a High Performer. Sustainable Meetings Berlin evaluates event service providers in the industry based on their corporate sustainability and presents them accordingly on their website – including us.

The ecological footprint and its impact on the world around us do not stop at our industry. On the contrary: many events require vast amounts of resources and preparation for just one, special moment. We have to be aware of our responsibility to find and go new ways for the future.

We used the forced break related to the pandemic to re-prioritize and reinvent ourselves as an agency. As a sustainability high performer, we are constantly working with our pool of environmentally conscious partners on our sustainability concept and new event formats. And sometimes we are guests in magazines as experts for green events.
