“Henrik Warneke”
My name is Henrik and I have been part of the MR Congress team since June 2001. I took a short break in between to gain know-how and experiences with competitors. So, I am one of the “returners” … there are several of those at MR. While studying biology in Hanover, I already started to work in the event industry. Finally, the experience of participating in the world exhibition in Hanover in 2000 (EXPO 2000) really sparked my enthusiasm for the industry.
I was born and raised near Hanover. Lower Saxony is a paradise for nature lovers like me, because there is a lot of green everywhere, the coast in the north and the Harz in the east.
The Lake Steinhuder Meer – one of my favorite places – is the largest lake in northwest Germany and always worth a visit. Like my colleague Peggy, I am very connected to home and recently married there – in the old knight’s estate Wichtringhausen, a romantic palace complex in Barsinghausen.
About the passion for sports
As my picture somehow reveals, I am a passionate skier and tennis fan. I am skiing down the slopes at least once every winter season during my holidays, mostly in Austria.
I do not visit my tennis club in my hometown quite as frequently, but I do play a couple of rounds of tennis from time to time in a men’s group. Playing football has also been one of my hobbies since I was young.
It is difficult to say which event has been the greatest fun for me so far. I particularly remember a dinner event in Berlin 2008. For more than 1,200 guests, a marketplace scene was created in the Arena in Treptow, which was reminiscent of an Italian piazza. That was very impressive!
There were small stalls with pizza and espresso everywhere, painted house walls on the surrounding walls, a Vespa and a water fountain for decoration, and of course a photo booth. And there were clotheslines on the ceilings as well. I had the opportunity to express my creativity and to develop something great. I will never forget that!
