Events should bring people together –
not exclude.

… how events can create spaces where every voice counts.

Events bring people together – ideally when everyone feels truly seen, heard, and welcome. This is precisely where Goal 10 of the UN – Reducing Inequalities – comes in. It’s about making marginalized groups more visible, promoting participation, and gradually dismantling existing inequalities.

Often, what’s needed isn’t grand gestures, but a conscious shift in perspective: How does the event feel for someone who isn’t part of the “usual target group”? This starts with the invitation: Who is being addressed – and who might not? An event agency can provide targeted support here – for example, through inclusive language, accessible communication, and the deliberate use of various channels. Even simple measures like discounted tickets for certain groups or information in easily understandable language and multiple languages can break down barriers and enable more people to participate.

In the planning phase it continues: Who will sit at the table when the event is created? A diverse team brings new perspectives, ideas, and experience – and that’s precisely what makes events more vibrant, relevant, and authentic. We can actively foster this process by ensuring fair pay, transparent role distribution, and respectful collaboration. This creates an environment where every opinion carries weight and creativity can truly flourish.

When an event brings together people with all kinds of different stories and backgrounds – and everyone feels truly welcome – it’s more than just a beautiful moment. It’s a step toward real change.

Of course, not every event has to be a perfect example of inclusion right away – and that’s okay. No one has to do everything perfectly. But every choice, every thought matters. Because it’s the small steps that set new standards.

Because in the end, it’s not just about creating a successful event – it’s about creating a memorable experience. An event that connects people, inspires them, and leaves a lasting impression – not just on the calendar, but also in their minds and hearts.
